Movie Preview: The Lorax (3D)

Nothing cures Monday blues like a free movie! (I'm cheapo.. I know.. *laughs*)

I was invited to watch a preview screening of The Lorax (3D) at Shaw Theatres, courtesy of UIP!

The Lorax @ Shaw Theatres Lido

From the creators of Despicable Me and the imagination of Dr. Seuss, The Lorax is an adaptation of the classic tale of a forest creature who shares the enduring power of hope.

This animated adventure follows the journey of Ted (Zac Efron) as he searches for the one thing that will enable him to win the affection of the girl of his dreams, Audrey (Taylor Swift). To find it, he must discover the story of the Lorax (Danny DeVito), the grumpy yet charming creature who fights to protect his world.

All excited for the preview with our medium popcorn (which doesn't seem to empty no matter how much you eat) and Pepsi Light

I haven't been to the Shaw Theatres since before I was married so I was surprised by the new and improved washrooms, comfy waiting areas and spacious cinema seats. I'm such an ancient dinosaur!

As usual the hubby joined me for this one.

Wearing our 3D glasses!

We're so ancient, the last 3D movie we watched was UP! Pathetic I know.

The central theme of the movie was on conservation and taking care of our earth and it's resources. The idea was good, but that meant the storyline was very predictable. There were also few jokes that were really hilarious and the hubby even went as far as to say, "so boring! Despicable Me is nicer!"

It might still entertain little kids though because there were a lot of music and singing (we all know my hubby is not a big fan of musicals), which toddlers and babies really enjoy.

Maybe I should have just brought baby girl instead.. Ah well.

My favorite part of the movie was this quote by Dr Seuss:
"UNLESS someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better, it's not."

Catch THE LORAX out in cinemas in Singapore on 9 March 2012!
(Available in IMAX on 2 March 2012).

Disclosure: A pair of complimentary movie tickets were received from omy.sg and UIP for the purposes of this movie review. No monetary compensation was received; all opinions are my own.
