Kid-Friendly Attractions in Hong Kong

I've been to Hong Kong far too many times than I can count. Even so, there are still a few attractions that I have not had the chance to visit! In any case, here's my top picks on where to bring your kids in Hong Kong! =)

11 Kid-Friendly Attractions in Hong Kong:

[1] Ocean Park

The hubby and I, when we visited Ocean Park for the first time in 2007 before we were married!
Back to Ocean Park again, this time with my girl and Mum-in-law in 2014.
This is a view of the base of Ocean Park from the cable car.
My girl enjoying her ride in the cable car
Loving the Giant Panda Adventure

I have been to Ocean Park twice, both as a single carefree student and as a full-time working mother of two and was never able to complete the whole park on both occasions! There are so many things to do there for people of all ages! Your kids will definitely not be bored here!

Do take note of China and Hong Kong's holiday periods and avoid them otherwise you might face crazy crowds!

[Address] 520 E Coast Rd, Singapore 458965
[Admission Rate] Adult HKD 438, Child (3-11 years) HKD 219 (Details here)

[2] Clock Tower

The only decent photo I have of the clock tower
The hubby and I in 2007 before we were married

There is ample space near the Clock Tower for your kids to run about while you admire the awesome skyline. There are plenty of opportunities for beautiful photos here so take as many as you can like we did! =)

[Address] Star Ferry Pier, Kowloon Point, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon
[Admission] FREE

[3] Avenue of Stars

Follow the signs to Avenue of Stars
This was taken in 2007 when it was raining and we had terrible cameras so this was the best photo I have!

The Avenue of Stars is Hong Kong's version of Hollywood's Walk of Fame. Very young kids probably won't know what the fuss is all about but it is still fun for them to pose next to iconic sculptures such as Bruce Lee. If you're a fan of Hong Kong movies and drama, this is a must visit!

[Address] Waterfront Podium Garden, Tsim Sha Tsui East
[Admission Rate] FREE

[4] A Symphony of Lights

Hong Kong's skyscrapers at night
Symphony of Lights

A Symphony of Lights show is the 'World's Largest Permanent Light and Sound Show' by Guinness World Records. It involves the flashing of laser light from the top of some of the most prominent skyscrapers in Hong Kong. It's fun for the kids but do watch it with live music and narration (or over the radio) otherwise it would just be a bunch of lights flashing around (that's really boring!).

[Address] Various vantage points (click here for more details)
[Admission Rate] FREE

[5] Peak

Taking the famous Peak Tram
With my girl on the Peak Tram when she was only 10 months old! She was so cute!!!!
The usual must-take photo at the peak with my super adorable 10-month-old baby girl!

A trip to Hong Kong is incomplete if you don't explore The Peak! There are many ways to get there but the best has got to be The Peak Tram. It's a fun way to travel and you can get to The Peak quite quickly if there isn't a long queue for the tram. The amazing views at The Peak is definitely worth your trip!

[Address of Peak Tram Lower Station] 33 Garden Road, Central, Hong Kong
[Tram Ride] Adult HKD 90 (return), Child (3-11 years) HKD 43 (return) (Details here)

[6] Madame Tussauds Hong Kong

Madame Tussauds Hong Kong
Welcome to Hong Kong!
We get to interview and meet the stars!
One of the few family photos from that trip

Madame Tussauds Hong Kong was our first experience at a Madame Tussuads (we later visited the ones in Singapore and Sydney). The Hong Kong and Singapore Madame Tussauds were better than Sydney in my opinion, simply because we recognise most of the wax figures! We had fun taking photos with all the famous people =)

[Address] Shop P101, The Peak Tower, No. 128 Peak Road, The Peak, Hong Kong
[Admission Rate] Various ticket packages here

[7] Hong Kong Space Museum

Hong Kong Space Museum is a huge globe in the middle of CBD
Exploring the exhibits

The Hong Kong Space Museum is not expensive and can be a nice place to visit especially if your kids love space and want to be an astronaut when they grow up. It's not very big; you'd take at most 2 hours to finish exploring the museum.

[Address] 10 Salisbury Rd, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong
[Admission Rate] Various ticket packages here

[8] Noah's Ark

Noah's Ark is one of those attractions on my to-bring-my-kids list. We haven't had the chance to visit but from photos it looks really fun.

[Address] 33 Pak Yan Rd, Hong Kong
[Admission Rate] Adult HKD 168, Child and senior HKD 138 (Details here)

[9] Ngong Ping 360

We were supposed to ride the Ngong Ping 360 on our last trip but sadly, it was closed for maintenance =(

Friends say it is a recommended to pay more for the cabin with transparent floors! If you're scared of heights though, better to stick to the normal cabins.

[Address] Ngong Ping, Lantau Island
[Admission Rate] Adult HKD 240, Child (3-11) HKD 155 (Details here)

[10] Hong Kong Disneyland

Hong Kong Disneyland Resort
The Sleeping Beauty castle!
Our family photo with Princess Aurora! =)
My girl had the privilege of joining Mickey, Minnie and friends in a dance!

How can a visit to Hong Kong be complete without a visit to Hong Kong Disneyland? If you are Disney fans like the girl and I, this is a must! Especially if like yours truly, one of your goals in life is to visit all the Disneylands in the world (2 down, 4 more to go!).

Compared to other Disneylands and Ocean Park, Hong Kong Disneyland is a lot smaller. However, considering that we didn't need to queue for most of the rides, it was still a great experience! True Disney fans will not complain as any opportunity to see Mickey, Minnie and the rest of the crew is always a good day! If you're not a Disney fan, I suggest sticking to Ocean Park.

[Address] Lantau Island, Hong Kong
[Admission Rate] Adult HKD 589, Child (3-11) HKD 419, Senior (65+) HKD 100 (Details here)

[11] Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel

Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel
Really fun playground for kids in the hotel!
Love the slide at their awesome pool!
There's even a playroom for parents to entertain their kids
At designated times, parents can also pay for crafts such as the above for their kids to do! So cute!!

You really can't visit Hong Kong Disneyland without staying at Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel! It's a really awesome hotel and the price is very reasonable too. There're lots of activities for kids and if you're lucky, you might even get to meet some Disney characters!

[Address] Hong Kong Disneyland, Lantau Island, Outlying Islands
