Langkawi Day 2-3: Kilim Geoforest Park, SkyCab & 3D Art Langkawi

DAY 2

We woke up for breakfast at the hotel, which was decent but nothing special.

Buffet breakfast

After breakfast, we went on our Mangrove tour of the Kilim Geoforest Park (we bought the package via the hotel the day before). Our driver came to pick us up from the hotel some time before noon and dropped us off at the dock.

At the dock where we were going to board our private boat

Beautiful weather to go out on a boat ride!

Our first stop was to see the Langkawi eagles up close and personal. You can't really tell from the photos but they were really quite close to us.

Feeding time for the eagles!
So many beautiful eagles!

Next, we travelled through the mangrove to explore a bat cave.

Travelling down the river

It cost RM2 per adult and RM1 per child to visit the bat cave

There is a proper pathway but it can be really dark!
Inside the bat cave, which is so quiet that it is eerily freaky

After our visit to the bat cave, the guide drove us out to sea to see the park in a very different light!

Kilim Geoforest Park
A mandatory group photo with the mega sign on the side of rock formations is a must!
Use your imagination and you can see something in the middle
(yes it looks like a woman lying down with the face up, reminds me of Moana)
Doesn't this look like King Kong?!?! So cool!

We had a great time laughing and enjoying the boat ride. At one point the boat travelled so quickly it felt like we were flying over the sea! Super fun! My kids had mixed feelings though, and gripped our hands so tightly! *laughs*

After the tour, we got our driver to drop us off at Panorama Langkawi instead of our hotel so that we can continue the day of fun.

Panorama Langkawi Cable Car Station

There are so many things that you can do here but we decided to get the 4-in-1 Package which comes with admission tickets to the SkyCab, SkyDome, SkyRex and 3D Art Langkawi. It cost us RM55 per adult and RM40 per child.

(1) SkyCab Cable Car

We started with riding the SkyCab, which is the Longest Free Span Mono-Cable Car in Malaysia.

There are 3 different types of Gondola cabins to choose from, namely, Normal Gondola, Bottom Glass Gondola and VIP Gondola. We decided to go with the most basic, the Normal Gondola.

At the base station
Awesome view as we ascend up the hill
The cable car is also famous for having the steepest incline up and down
(it's not as scary as it looks)
At the mid station with panoramic views of the island!
You can see the top station from here as well

You will need to travel to the top station for even better views of Langkawi =)

(2) SkyBridge

The SkyBridge was NOT part of our package but since it wasn't expensive, we decided to get tickets to explore the bridge. We got the SkyGlide tickets at RM15 per adult and RM10 per child as the cheaper option meant that we had to walk down (and then up) a lot of stairs.

Clockwise from left: SkyGlide was basically an inclined elevator that brought us down to the SkyBridge;

At the SkyBridge

Amazing views from the bridge
The SkyBridge lets you feel like you are walking in the sky!
There are also transparent floors that show you just how high you are!

(3) SkyRex

Once we arrived at the base station, we headed to SkyRex, which is a 3D simulator adventure ride.

SkyRex

You basically step into a machine that takes you into the land of the dinosaurs. My kids enjoyed it!

(4) 3D Art Langkawi

This was not our first visit to a 3D art gallery. The kids and I have been to the Trick Eye Museum at Sentosa and Magic Eye 3D Museum at Hat Yai. We thought we knew what to expect but were pleasantly surprised that 3D Art Langkawi was much bigger and better than the other 3D art museums that we had visited!

Walking to 3D Art Langkawi

We walked through many rooms before arriving at the Central Hall where an interactive show was about to begin. The whole room was transformed with lights and effects.

How it looked without the lights and sound effects

I thought the show was fantastic! Definitely worth catching so do take note of the show times.

My girl was definitely better at posing than my boy, who basically followed everything that my girl did. But I was glad that he at least enjoyed the experience and tried to take part in it as much as he could (even if it meant sitting at the corner and pouting) =)

A visit to the SkyDome, which was similar to an Omni-theatre, was also included in our package. However, as we had to wait 30 minutes for the next show to start, we decided that we would rather go back as we were all sunburnt and exhausted.

We had an early dinner at a nearby restaurant before heading back to the hotel for a swim.

Sumptuous feast
 Swimming and more swimming

A great end to a lovely day 😊

DAY 3

We had just enough time before our flight home to visit a shopping mall to do some last minute shopping.

Langkawi Parade
Lunch

After lunch, we headed back to our hotel and checked out.

Left: Our free airport transfer;
Right: Happy kids after a fun holiday.
Boarding the plane home

It was an amazing girls' trip just the three of us and my two kids. The sister and I had a great time with my mum as we both could be as loud, as direct, as honest and as annoying as we liked without caring whether anyone's feelings could be hurt 'cos we know that no matter what, we are sisters and daughters! The kids had an amazing time too!

Can't wait for our next girls' trip! 😊
