Day 1
It was finally time for our long awaited staycation at Shangri-la's Rasa Sentosa Resort to celebrate our wedding anniversary! With the borders finally opening and people travelling more freely again, this might well be the last staycation for us this year 😜
We booked the Rasa Family Fun Package, which included buffet breakfast and dinner for 2A2C (children under 6 dine free for Shangri-la Circle members), 2 tickets to the Nest playground and 1 kids fun pack. Since Shangri-la is well-known for their kid-friendly activities, we stayed for 3D2N so that we can have more time to enjoy!
We checked in and collected our free fun pack, which was a bag of beach toys. As it was still early, the front desk informed us that our room was not ready yet but we could enjoy the facilities while waiting for our room.
We headed to Cool Zone, the indoor playground for kids.
The area for older kids above 3 years old was basically a treehouse with a slide. My Eldest Girl was bored after just 5 minutes while the Boy managed to stay engaged for about 45 minutes as the staff tried to engage the kids in some games.
The area for the younger kids 3 years old and below seemed to engaged the kids better as my Littlest had no trouble entertaining herself for the full time slot.
At the end of the play session, we headed to our Deluxe Pool View Room, which was ready.
The room consisted of 2 single beds joined together and 1 sofa bed for the kids. It was a very spacious room!
Sadly, we got a really low floor so we couldn't really see the pool from our room as we had hoped.
The bathroom was very spacious, as with all Shangri-la hotels, with a good size bathtub for taking warm baths! 🛀
The slippers provided by the hotel was great for wearing to the beach, though it wasn't always very comfy for some people. The care kit was a nice touch and I enjoyed the many little shelves and ledges in the hotel for us to put things! I hate hotels with not enough hooks and shelves that I have to use my own S hooks!
The moment I had finished taking photos, the kids were raring to go to the pool!
The last time we swam in the pool was in 2015, when we were invited to have brunch at one of the restaurants here. The Littlest was not even born yet and the Boy was a baby who had just learnt how to walk! How fast time flies!
The kids had so much fun in the water play area and the slides! Yes, there are slides here!
We wanted to go to the beach just to take a quick look, with every intention to leave after 15 minutes as was our usual practice whenever we bring our kids to the beach; our kids would usually put their feet into sand, wince and then insist for us to leave.
Nope, not today. After about 30 minutes, I was so done and ready to head back to the pool but the kids were not ready to leave! 🤯 "We want to make more sandcastles Mummy! 30 more minutes!" the kids said, their heads faced down to the sand, not looking up even once.
The husband and I were shocked! I guess all the lockdowns have taken a toll on my kids, who have finally begun to appreciate how precious it was to experience the feel of sand on their feet and sun on their skin! 🏖️
We had to drag the kids back to the hotel because it was dinner time. We promised we would be back tomorrow.
Our package came with buffet dinner at Dine on 3.
The buffet had a good variety of food, including a Kids Zone, which is placed at the height of little children, and a Baby Zone. My kids loved getting their own Milo from the Kids Zone without any help.
The husband's favourite was the Indian food, which was so yummy! 😋 For me, it's the dessert bar! There are all sorts of delicious desserts that you can try! 🍧🍨🍦🍮
Plus, how many buffets do you know that serve cotton candy! The kids, especially the Littlest, loved it so much!
The husband wanted to bring our own tent to make the room even more fun for the kids without having to pay extra 😃
It was a great idea for the boy, who was initially extremely excited to sleep in the tent. However, he soon realised that the tent was too hot and the makeshift bed I made for him too uncomfortable 😅 Oh well, can't say we didn't try.
Day 2
The next morning, we had breakfast at the same restaurant that we had for dinner.
Food was good, in general, we had an enjoyable breakfast.
After breakfast, we headed straight to the pool. I knew the kids wanted to go to the beach and I totally forgot to bring/apply sunscreen for all of us but I thought to myself, "wah the room is so far away, I don't think we'll stay out for so long right, should be ok la."
Totally regretted it because the family stayed at the beach from morning till about 1pm! 😅
While the kids and I enjoyed the complimentary paddle-boarding and kayaking on the water, the sun started to beat down on us, stronger and stronger! ☀️
The water sports were soooo fun but we all became sooooo sunburnt! The tanlines can still be seen on our bodies till today!
When I finally had enough of the sun, we made the kids head back to the pool where they enjoyed the slides in the shade while I went back to our room to grab our sunscreen.
The daddy ordered fries and drinks to enjoy by the pool since we were hungry.
We lazed in the pool till we were tired and headed back to our room.
After a shower, while the Littlest took her nap, I brought the boy to join in the craft activity session at the Cool Zone kids club. The Boy did his craft on his own and enjoyed himself!
Later in the evening, we headed back to Dine on 3 for the same buffet dinner that we had the day before as it was part of our package.
However, we felt that good buffets should only be done once. There is only so much stomach that I can fill with good food before getting too full / sick of it! It was a great experience while it lasted though! It has been a really long time since we last enjoyed a good buffet! 😜😋
Since we were free to go to the pool whenever we wanted (finally no more COVID restrictions!), we headed to the pool one more time for a night swim!
Gotta make full use of the pool! 😆
Day 3
Day 3
The next day we had breakfast and went for one last swim before we checked out.
Our package actually came with 2 tickets to Nestopia, but we decided to forgo them because the kids have already gone last December.
We headed to Hard Rock Cafe for lunch because I'm a fan of Hard Rock and wanted to utilise my remaining RWS Invites points before they discontinued the programme (boo)!
We ordered two kids meals and a burger, and enjoyed our meal! It was a great end to a very awesome long weekend!
Till our next adventure! 💗
