Ipoh-Cherating Day 4: Club Med Cherating Beach

Some of us had breakfast at the nearby market and brought back simple breakfast for the kids and I.

We'd be checking out early at 10.30am so that we can start the long journey to our next destination. Before we left Ipoh, we made a final stop at Funny Mountain to buy their famous soya bean drink.

Then we were on the road, travelling towards Kuala Lumpur until we arrived at Batu Caves, the mid-point of our journey, at around 1pm. We stopped for lunch at Leng Kee Teow Chew Seafood Restaurant as it had good reviews online.

Food was good in general, though there were a few misses.

After lunch, we continued our journey on the E8 towards Kuantan. The journey was approximately 3.5 hours and we hoped to make it there before sunset! By the grace of God, the traffic was very smooth and we managed to arrive at Club Med Cherating Beach by 5pm! 🥳

After we have unloaded the car, a Front Desk GO brought us our welcome drinks and gave us an orientation briefing. GO stands for Gentle Organisers (i.e., the Club Med activity staff) who plan all the activities, interact with guests, and make sure we are well taken care of!

After the briefing, we each received a wrist tag which we were to wear at all times while in Club Med. The tags (for teens and adults only) were also activated to allow us to access our rooms (no need for key cards). The GO then brought us to our rooms personally, and showed us the pool and other amenities along the way.

It was a long walk to our block, which was located at the far end of the resort.

As Club Med recommended booking via phone for large groups, I called them to book the Interconnecting Superior Rooms package. It cost us S$660 per adult (18+), S$529 per teen (12-17) and S$398 per child (4-11) for 3 nights; total S$6,600 for our family of 6 adults, 2 teens and 4 children. The package was inclusive of all meals, babysitting and activities (with some exclusions you'd need to pay extra for).

We were assigned to 3 pairs of 2 connecting rooms (total 6 Superior Rooms). Each pair consisted of 1 queen bed in one room and 2 twin beds in the other. We were lucky that we were given rooms on the 1st floor as the blocks did not have lifts.

After we have unpacked, we headed to the Orchid Bar for all-day complimentary drinks! 

Kids were encouraged to order their own drinks at the kids' platform!

We hung out by the bar until it was time for dinner at The Mutiara. The buffet spread was really good!

After a hearty dinner, the family played table tennis at the tables next to the gym.

We gathered at the theatre for the night performance, which was a daily affair and changed every night.

We can't wait to sign our kids up for Kids Club at the booth outside of the theatre.

I found it very amazing that the performances were put together by none other than the GOs! These multi-talented staff are instructors/babysitters by day and dancers/actors/stunt artiste by night! Super hardworking! 😅

Before the performance, the GOs introduced the themed outfit for the next day, with the staff and little kids modeling them on stage!

I was surprised that she wasn't nervous at all 😀

That night's performance at 9pm was the La Reina Circus Show.
